History

The old name of our school was DAV BASL Vidya Mandir, It was established in the year 1982. The school got a set back in mid-nineties when its patroniser, the BASL industry was declared a sick unit due to some unavoidable reasons. In the transition period, the school was somehow managed by the locals and they kept it alive. The advent of JSPL in this hitherto sleepy village of Balkudra was a great boon for this school. It got a new lease of life when the management of the school was taken over by the JSPL. The JSPL provided all necessary infrastructures and a well-qualified and experienced team of teachers. Since then it has not looked back and is progressing rapidly. Now the school name has changed as O. P. Jindal School, Patratu.

Our school is affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi up to Sr. Sec. level. The strength of the students was only 400 at the time of the take over, which has now raised to 1700. It became possible only with the consorted efforts of the JSPL and our dedicated team of staff. There are altogether 80 teaching and non- teaching staff in the school.

The JSPL, Patratu has provided the school a well equipped Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Social Studies and Computer Laboratories. The Library of the school has good number of text books and reference books. Some important National and Local Newspapers and magazines are subscribed for the library. There is a music and dance room with updated instruments. All the necessary accessories for various sports events are available in the school.

All Curricular activities and co-curricular activities are conducted in the school as per the schedule. The regular features are morning assembly, drill, weekly Hawan, sports and games, Computer education, Karate, experiments in science labs, internal exams, regular library and computer classes from standards I to XII etc. It is worth mentioning here that a good number of students from far off places say from 30-35 km. have got admitted to our school. The school bus facility is available for them.

The school is successfully organizing various inter house competitions such as debate, declamation, quiz, solo and group dance, volleyball, basketball, badminton etc. during CCA period.

The prominent visitor of the school was Hon'ble Sri Navin Jindal, Chairman, Jindal Steel and Power Limited. On his visit he advised everybody to take the school at the top not only in the state but also to spread its fragrance in the country too. His presence in the school premises encouraged the students and the staff.
